Race Reports:

The White Star Mountain Bike Race:

We had superb weather, and a great turn out for our first 2-day version of our Mountain Biking event, (previously it has been held over 1 day only).

Situated in a farmland valley at the 'White Star Station' in Colville, competitors camped on site, and rode either day 1/day 2 or both days.

Day 1 comprised of the 'Point Series' events and the 3 and 6 hour Rogaine events. Day 2 was the Cross Country events 20km/30km and 60km of Cross Country riding.

I want to extend a BIG thank you to our sponsors - without you guys the events wouldn’t go ahead as they do. We had fantastic feedback from the prizes we had for Prize Giving, and the winner of the MERIDA mountain bike was very pleased indeed!

The Kauri Run - Coromandel (sponsored by Osprey Packs)

Another great event has just taken place up in Coromandel...THE GREAT CRANLEIGH KAURI RUN...the weather turned it on perfectly, and it went very smoothly indeed! Final competitor numbers pushed over the 400 mark this year, which has been a significant increase from last year’s numbers!

A special acknowledgement and thankyou to our Principal Sponsor, CRANLEIGH MERCHANT BANKERS. They have helped to boost the profile of our event, and are also very passionate about what we are trying to achieve environmentally, through this event. They have also had a large influence on organising and supporting our new Corporate Teams category, and provided an awesome prize for the category winners.

Of course, without the rest of our sponsors support, the events wouldn’t go ahead as they do. For this event in particular, I want to sincerely thank you for your support. We have a strong vision of rebuilding our native forest, and you can be pleased to know that you are a part of that, through your involvement with us. Not to mention your support is also helping us to continue to grow the vision of our 'Spirit of Coromandel Trust', which you can find out more about on our website www.arcevents.co.nz.

TV3 were at the event this year and managed to get some good footage. I tuned into Sunrise breakfast news this morning, and there was a good slot on the event, and what it is all about.

We will be having a kauri planting working bee some time mid next year. We encourage our competitors, and our sponsors, to come along and be involved with that...we will have a nice bbq and get together afterwards.
